Thursday 26th February – Windsurf **** River Orwell at Levington – cloudy.

Foil – 20.10 knot max, 18.40 knot ave(year PB)., 12.29 knot hour(year PB), 16.58 knot mile(year PB), 32.43 km., 14.52 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 (LW) and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Bolt 5.75m.

After yesterdays wall to wall sunshine and 19 degrees in some parts of Suffolk we were back to cloudy and 12 degrees. A nice breeze from the SW was forecast and a few wingers were heading out on the sea at The Dip but it’s still too early in the year for an old pensioner so I decided to head over to Levington even though it was low water in the middle of the day! I arrived at Levington around 11 and quickly set up my board and it was gusting over 20 mph so I took a chance with my 5.75 which was OK,I could have got away with 5m at times with some big gusts coming through! I launched by the Marina entrance and it took 12 tacks to make it to deep water. SW is a good direction for doing long runs down towards Pin Mill, I started off doing short runs on the corner where the wind was strongest before venturing further afield and did 5 runs down to Pin Mill and got three year PB’s with some nice mile runs and a reasonable hour! I then went in the water and got knackered starting off again so I decided to call it a day as I had been out nearly two hours! Pack up, shower and head for home stopping briefly at the Trimley churches to take some daff pics!
